SUNY Chancellor Calls for Audit

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

In response to a flurry of layoffs at Binghamton University over conflicts between staff members and the basketball team. The new Chancellor has called for an independent audit.

On Wednesday, the athletic director resigned after the dismissal of six star players, including one who was arrested on drug charges in the past. Another long-time instructor was dismissed Tuesday after she accused the athletic department of pressuring her to show preferential treatment to the basketball team.

Binghamton president, Lois DeFleur, says she agrees that an audit is necessary to remove any doubts about the quality and integrity of the university, which is part of the SUNY system.
