Democratic Candidates Gather in Nevada

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

Last night, Democratic presidential candidates debated in Nevada. They were asked which was more important - human rights or security. Senator Barack Obama told CNN moderator Wolf Blitzer that he couldn't choose.

OBAMA: The concepts are not contradictory. They are complimentary. And I think Pakistan is a great example. We paid $10 billion over the last 7 years to restore democracy and combat terrorism, and we've gotten neither.

REPORTER: Senator Hillary Clinton used the question to say the problem in Pakistan is a lack of presidential attention.
