This is my roof in Williamsburg, after a summer rainstorm. While I had gone up on the roof in the first place to take a photo of a rainbow, I noticed that the rain left a thin layer of water on the roof's edge and forgot about the rainbow. I love the surreal effect created by the mirror.

This is Dawson City - Yukon Territory on the Summer Solstice. I took this just after midnight; twilight lasted for hours up there. I like the person in the foreground balanced out by the boat in the background, both dwarfed by the landscape.

This is Gardiners Path on Long Island, it sits on the Great South Bay, it was a cold foggy damp dreary day and I was in a dark and melancholy mood, this scene just looked so mysterious and haunting that I needed to photograph it.

This photo was taken at the Rockefeller Christmas Tree lighting on December 4th. It
Is such a fun and festive occasion with dinner and dessert at the Sea Grille topped off by the tree being illuminated! Wow!

Red & White, and Red+White. This picture was taken from Manhattan near the Queensboro Bridge overlooking the East River towards Roosevelt Island and the Power Plant in Queens. I saw the barge coming up the river and caught it just as it aligned with the smoke stacks. I like the mirroring of the colors. I cropped it a little.

Although I had my very first bicycle accident today (I'm ok, thanks to my helmet), I'm still a BIG fan of the Brooklyn Bridge. Whether you're coming or going, you'll always be in a state of euphoria when crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. I took this photo because it captures a biker wearing a cape, or at least resembles a cape - a super hero invincible feeling I get when viewing Manhattan from the bridge.

Sunset this past July on Lake George, NY in Adirondack State Park. I took this picture at Harris Bay Yacht Club. I had just gotten a new job about a month before, and purchased my first smartphone, was a beautiful evening with much to be thankful for.

On my brother and sister-in-law's roof in Windsor Terrace in August. My son, nephew and a friend are in a band together, and this is them working on filming their first music video. Brooklyn is really the best backdrop for virtually anything!

This is a photo of The Youth Farm, a collaboration between The High School for Public Service and BK Farmyards. I interned there this fall and I loved the opportunity to work on a farm with others in my neighborhood of Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

My 14 y/o daughter took this on the F platform waiting for a train to take her from home in Brooklyn to her high school in Manhattan. When she showed it to me later in the day, I had a little moment of NYC mom pride when I realized that my "baby" now rides the subway all over town! Love that my kids are growing up in New York...

I took this photo while I was roaming around Battery Park in NYC during the time of our recent government Shut-Down. This specific photo captures the obvious, but if you look past the sign, it shows a bronze sculpture that depicts various immigrant groups that are expressive in their struggles, very similar to the way our government struggles just trying to work together.

I took this photo on the subway a few months ago. Taken with my iphone, it's cropped and mildly color corrected, but not manipulated in any other way. What I like about this photo is that this reader's eyeglass frames and nose appear to be melting seamlessly into the sexy cover model. My subway fantasies should be so transportive.

The panoramic mode of the cellphone camera is great!

Used the automatic panorama mode of the cellphone. Held camera still and as train passed it automatically snapped pics as though the scene was moving. Look at the trees above the train.

My family and I went for a hike on my birthday in Mt. Loretto State Park in Staten Island in November. The Autumn colors were at their peak on a clear, crisp day.

This is at the lake in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. The weather in NYC has been bizarre this winter, 60 degrees yesterday, and today it was warm and raining and these amazing mists were floating above the lake. In this shot, I was actually more interested in the ducks who are standing on an invisible sheet of ice that had amazingly not melted, and the swan took that precise moment to open up his wings. I like the picture because it looks moody and magical, and it's hard to believe it's in the middle of Brooklyn, New York!

Barefoot waterskiing on Candlewood Lake, on my
66th birthday.

Took a hike in Ojai and when I arrived at the top of the mountain, I sat next to this little guy. Never seen a more beautiful spider! I love the colors and texture of the leaf, too rare to not take a pic.
Ken Fauerbach
I took this picture while bike riding along the Hudson on 12/21/13. Amidst the grayness of the day, the light coming across the water was beautiful.

Entitled: 'Real Dream'
Location: Brooklyn
This image very simply captures, in a breath, what NYC is. A place of impossibly vibrant dreams, beside the weary and inescapable truth.
