I took this photo on Shelter Island. My girlfriend was with her collaborator at the time in Finland making their way to an artist residency for the month of July. She had not told me that she was going with her collaborator, but I already knew by simply looking at their website. I waited and waited for her to tell me they were going together, but she never did. She also had not told me that she had been involved with him for our entire relationship, but I always knew something was happening between them besides artistic collaboration. I felt alone, abandoned and isolated. I spent that weekend trying to capture my emotions in an image.

This is on the border of Sunnyside and L.I.C. I liked the contrast of colors, but also that it seemed to embody a neighborhood in flux.

Taken from the 7 train in early November. One of the perks of above-ground trains is catching the sunrise or sunset over the skyline.

This is taken from Bryant park last Jan. On the right is the BOA building on 6th and 43rd, not sure about the turquoise one. I love architecture, and the combination of colors and shapes appeal to me. Very modern, and the looking up with no ground is almost surreal. It's an art shot.

This is Iceland, at a glacier park, where chunks of ice break off, and float off onto the beach. One of the most spectacular sights I've ever seen. Took us four hours one way to get to this western part of the country, took a bunch of pictures and then drove back to Reykjavik .....well worth the time!

This was in Iceland, an abandoned crashed plane in the muddle of a volcanic black sand beach. It was so stark and so "lost" like, we loved searching for it, via our gps, and succeeding!

In front of my office building these non-native grass was planted for landscaping. Just as it lost its green this fall it became a brief riot of color before tuning brown.

I am a recent graduate from CUNY City College's Computer Engineering program. This was my final submission for an entrepreneurship competition at the school in May, which my team and I won. For me it illustrates the possibilities at this time for someone who aspires to be an "inventor" (3d printing, prototyping platforms, etc.), as well as the frustrations inherent in trying to shove so much information in a little space. (Components in a box; concepts in my brain.) [photo taken in the school's new Zahn Center for Entrepreneurship]

I took this near Times Square in NYC. I was crossing the busy street and I looked to my right to see the sun setting perfectly between the buildings. I stopped in the middle of the street to quickly snap a picture of it. I like it because it combined the beauty of the chaotic city with the beauty of the peacefulness of nature.

Japanese maple has planted itself and created an understory in my neighborhood. I took the photo with my phone in October 2013 while walking my dog. The color was amazing

I took this at sunset from my window which faces Riverside Drive. I loved how large an expanse of sky there is here, not something you often see in Manhattan. The colors were stunning and I was surprised at how well they were captured by the phone's camera.

It's a close-up of the taco truck in the back yard at Union Pool in Williamsburg.

In mid - December 2013, I went to Prospect Park to take pictures of the snow before it melted. I wanted to catch the light before the evening so I positioned the trees within the frame and took the picture just as the sun came out from behind the clouds giving light to the long meadow below.
The thick and fine branches weave a pattern that the obscures the meadow beyond.

The is a prized piece of vintage, working equipment in my dad's bakery, Our Daily Bread. It was among the first things he bought when he started this bakery. It reminds me of his optimism and determination. I was taking photos of my kids eating cookies in the bakery over the summer and my favorite photo of the day was of this old dough machine.

An art installation in a park in Huston, TX. The whole park was lit in green with giant spheres hanging like strange fruits. This made for an atmosphere that removes you completely from the surrounding city.

A light post covered with vines in Sayville, NY. The silhouette of the vines covered post against the twilight sky topped with a shining head made it look like a strange creature.

All year I wait for the camellias to bloom in my small Brooklyn garden. April ushers in three glorious weeks of flowers. In their natural state on the bush camellias are not much to look at, since their heavy heads point down at the ground. This photograph captures one Bermuda pink camellia at its best. Here the blossom stands upright in its crystal vase. And for just a few moments, the late afternoon sun illuminates every petal.

This picture was taken in Fl. I was walking away from the beach over one of those boardwalks over the sand/grass. I looked over the edge and saw this turtle emerging from its home. It was amazing to watch the turtle come out of hiding. I liked that I was able to catch the turtle leaving its home.

This photo was taken in March 2013 in the Chinese Garden at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. Arriving from chilly New York, the garden gave a foretaste of spring. Cherry blossoms are seen in the background. And I especially love the long shadows cast through the key-shaped Moongate (including that of the photographer snapping the photo).
