This was a foggy summer day when my sister and I forced her kids out of the house and onto the beach.

This was taken at the Museum of the City of New York. While I was supposed to be there viewing the exhibits, I couldn't help but find beauty in the building itself.

This was the first evening where it really felt like winter was in the post. Taken from my front patio in Portland, OR. The light was incredible, hard to capture with the cell, but the result was pleasing none the less

I was at a marina and thought it looked beautiful and scary at the same time, plus the colors were nice.

I was helping my boyfriend work on a sailboat.I took it because at 54 years old this was a wild and crazy thing ,hoisting me up a mast.Especially since I'm not really a sailor!

The sky over Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island, July 2013

After a long, perfect day with friends listening to music at the Newport Folk Festival (a yearly tradition I look forward to starting the day after the previous year's festival ends), the sky was quite obliging. No filter besides Nature's own.

I took this photo in Berlin in the summer. It is the memorial by Micha Ullman to the book burning that took place there May 10th 1933 by members of Nazi Students'League. I hadn't seen a photo before we went so we walked around for ages before we saw it right under our feet. It was so sparse and peaceful down there it felt a little like staring into a grave.I tried to get a photo without our shadows but I think maybe we add a ghostly alien quality to it.

A friend's electro/cumbia/punk band, R-Tronika, playing in Jackson Heights as part of Travers Park's "Play Street-Summer Sundays in the Park" programming. The children were really digging the music. I think the picture beautifully captures a perfect summer day.

the chair ride at Seaside Heights NJ a few weeks prior to superstorm Sandy. Color and delicacy, who could have predicted what befell this place

My husband and I protest turkey on thanksgiving - it's dry, takes forever to cook, and (when you think about it) no one REALLY likes it. So this year, when as hosted family thanksgiving for the first time, we exercised our "hosts's prerogative" --- and decided that our meat main courses would be homemade Moroccan lamb and chinese bbq pork..... Suddenly, the night before thanksgiving I realized that I hadn't made a bread to go with the big meal, I decided to merge our Thanksgivvikuh event theme and acknowledge the tradition of carving a bird at the table..... and voila --- our turkey challah was born!

Happy challah-days everyone!

I took this photo while painting en plein air in Morro Bay CA.
The light was shifting brilliantly and magically creating reflections and spumato before sunset.

Times Square at midnight on a Saturday, a duck looking for a chess partner, nothing unusual about that in NYC!

I took it when painting in plein air at Morro Bay CA.
The fog that had been totally blanketed the bay was lifting to reveal a glorious blue.

I took this in Prospect Park because I just moved to NYC and was trying to make everyone back in North Dakota jealous of the green spaces here in the city.

These are two photos of Morse Lake.( A lake we live on in Bloomingdale NJ). I love them because they were taken on the first snowfall in December and my mother (who is the person waving under the tree) was visiting from Wisconsin and we got to share this beauty together.

I took this because every concert/show I go to, I try to only take one or two photos, so I want to make sure I do it right and snag great moments. Which this whole show was. Captivating and great. I only take a photo or two because I think it's important to capture an experience on camera, but also make sure you're really in the moment, without a phone in your face the entire time.
