This is from a day trip, strawberry picking on the North Fork of Long Island at Golden Earthworm Organic Farm in Jamesport, NY. It reminds me of the warmth and bounty of summer.

This is after the big snowstorm on Feb 9, 2013, it's the gate at my house in Northport, NY on the North Shore of Long Island. I took it because we had received over 2 feet of snow!
Julia McCartney
I took this earlier this week. I like to think of it as local resident checking out its 'blingy' cousins.

A lonely little Christmas in Philadelphia ... I love the little tree in the evening dark with 30th Street Station just beyond.

A lazy, hot afternoon cafe ... reminds me of a wonderful-but-difficult and fleeting time in my life.

This photo was taken looking out the window at Two Boots Pizza in the West Village. I was spending the day in the city with my girlfriend and we went in to grab pizza on a whim! I used to work near Two Boots and go there a lot so it's a place with happy memories for me. I also love the picture because you get a glimpse of the city from the inside out!

I took this while on my way to work. The photo was taken early in the morning in northeast Ohio. I like the way the fog looked with the morning rays. The birds flying away was a bonus.

A second glimpse of a person who believes that subways are for sleeping.

There was once a book and a movie and a play whose title stuck with me: Subways are for Sleeping. In that spirit, I always try to photograph people catching a few winks while in transit. There is a second picture I will send separately.

We were supposed to fly home from Florida on Saturday December 14 but the flight was cancelled because of bad weather in the Northeast. Instead of going home, we got invited to take part in the boat parade in Key Largo bay on Saturday evening--this is a photo of paddle boarders decked out in lights for the parade.

I took this shot while out on my back deck in Vernon, NJ. I've always loved jumping spiders—there's something cute and "smart" behind those little eyes. They're also REALLY tough to photograph since they can perceive their surroundings really well.
Got this after a couple tries, and before the little guy jumped out of sight.
Taken with an Olloclip's macro lens on my iPhone4s.

This is at the bird rehabilitation center in Tavernier, Key Largo, Florida. They thought they were about to be fed.

Taken from an Amtrak train window along the Hudson River (heading north from NYC to Hudson, NY). The view from the train was beautiful throughout the trip, but the reflected symmetry of this bridge stood out to me the most.

I took this photo while my girlfriend and I were helping move some things from a farmhouse in Glen Gardener NJ. There was this nice, semi-wild flowing bush near the garage doors with a whole host of bumble bees on it. Always looking for good macro shots, I pulled out my little Olloclip iPhone lens and started snapping photos.
It was pretty windy, so it took a whole host of shots, but I eventually got this one, which I love.

Taken in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. I stop and take photos on my phone constantly, but this one stood out to me for how nature (flower) and man-made elements (brownstone stoop) are so different yet so complimentary.

Oaxaca, Mexico
The end of a lovely day intersected with the end of the flowering season for these gorgeous ancient trees. I took this shot because I was moved by the bleached light of the courtyard punctuated by the pink and the mirrored forms of the trees and the little girl bent over to collect their fallen blooms.

An unseasonably warm day at the Pier 6 Playground.
The angle of the sun and the overall coordinated palette of the playground and the child's sneaker sole, put me on alert that a good image was possibly afoot. Then I got lucky that my iPhone lens fired about as quickly as I hoped it would.
This shot captures the distinct joy of freedom after a long day in the 3rd grade.

This is an art installation at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. It's by the Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto. As you approach this exhibit, you're not exactly sure what these hanging sacks are all about, and you may be a little hesitant (especially if you have your 6 and 8 year old kids with you). But, each sack is filled with different aromatic spices and as you get closer, your olfactory senses are engaged. It reminds me that, very often, my first impression of something (or someone) can be entirely wrong.

The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah, Ga got complete face lift during 2013.
