I was sitting by the harbor on Fire Island in early September, watching this spectacular sunset

People floating down the river at sunset. Prague - July 2013. I always thought this was a Boise, ID thing.

Taken on the Shore Trail of Palisades Interstate Park in the "Giant Stairs" section of Alpine, hiking along the Hudson River's shoreline.
I took it to take the majesty of the Palisades cliffs with me, and as a reminder of the incredible wealth of natural beauty accessible in the metro area. An incredible reminder of why conservation and preservation are so important!
I like that I was able to capture that rock climber for scale!

I was waiting for my kids in the car (in Queens). I was looking up at my sunroof and the planes were flying lower than usual that day. I saw the pattern in the rain drops and I got lucky!

The first is in Flushing Meadows, Queens. It was a nice day, the clouds looked good, and that globe is always a sexy subject.

The 'Pope is dope', taken in Williamsburg on a lovely sunny summer day this year.

This is sunset on the East River, looking from Astoria Park through the Hell Gate Bridge. I just moved back into the city this summer, and I love Astoria. One of the reasons is the views of the Hell Gate Bridge from Astoria Park. The sun bursting through the bridge adds to the beauty.

Fruit Vendor on Her Way to a Wedding, Bamako, Mali
Sunday is indeed the day for weddings in Bamako. They are all over town. One Sunday, I happened upon this fruit seller with this fabulous necklace on her way to a wedding. We smiled at each other and the fruit vendor stopped so I could take this shot.

Portland, PA Pedestrian Bridge across the Delaware River. Early morning.

This photo symbolizes parenthood, the chaos and the gratitude that a crazy situation still worked out fine. One of our three year old twins swallowed a penny a few hours before my mom was to arrive from overseas. We somehow managed an emergency room visit before going to the airport. It seems that this is going to be business as usual for the next few years :)

Frankly Burlesque holds a raffle during their "Naked for the Holidays" show at Pengilly's Saloon in downtown Boise, Idaho in early December. I love the look of suspense on Juniper Rose's face! (This photo is also on the Wikipedia article on Neo-Burlesque.)

Tree of Life, a sculpture on the grounds of the Shangri-La Tea Room and Cafe on Federal Way in late autumn Boise, Idaho. It serves as a "portal" in the augmented reality game Ingress; after hacking said portal I took this snapshat, impressed by the composition and stark beauty of the scene.

I took this photo on a walk in Jersey City Heights. I really liked how the tree frames the city below and the NYC skyline. It's about the tree, but it is also about the city.

Prayer tree, Newgrange, Ireland.
A rainy day hike around the prehistoric Newgrange. It was day 10 of my family's tour through Ireland, and we parted the next day with cousins headed to England and my mother and I to Scotland. After more than a week together in a small car, a ramble, even in the rain, was welcome, and the tree encouraged a bit of tranquility that perhaps had not been felt in awhile.

Witches of Westport rowing on Saugatuck River in Ct on Halloween. Silhouettes in the river fantastic!

Took this photo sitting in front of the television on Thanksgiving Day. It appears to be the first time another religion / belief system was presented in the Macy's Thanksgiving parade. It is not likely to occur again for 77,000 years. I wanted to capture the image to create my season's greetings card for the next milennium. Best regards, Ellen
