I call this "The Forgotten Chair". My grandson had a school photography project , so I took him to Longstreet Farm in Holmdel, NJ. I took this shot with my cell phone. The chair was in a small back room of a barn, I liked it so much that I decided to blow it up and frame it. I then realized it was too small an image. So I changed the settings on my cell phone and I raced back to the farm the next day at approximately the same time for the light. Alas, the day clouded over and soon discovered that someone had cleaned the chair of its gossamer cobwebs ... again proving that a photo is a fragile moment in time.

This photo was taken when I was about to get into my car after work. The 17 year cicadas were all over the place outside. I listened to their drone for about six weeks while trying to work. Who knows where I'll be in 17 years from now so I wanted to document this "event."

I went out, on my lunch break, on a day when the weather advisory was for a squall. I knew LI Sound would be beautiful. It was warm and windy with a sense of trepidation by the shore. I think this picture is kinda metallic.

This photo was taken in my backyard when I was taking a break from yard work. I like the whole composition of the purples and greens and the white fence helping the colors pop. Irises are one one of my favorite flowers and I consider them as my birthday flower.

Autumn is my best time of year and this year I was a part of a 10k steps-a-day challenge for my job. So on my daily five mile walk I would travel along the sound in Bridgeport, through the park and beach, and enjoy some of the most beautiful interplay of light and landscape. This is one that I love beyond measure.

I took this photo using my cell phone camera at Coney Island on a cold autumn day. I took it because I saw the three women in their burkas arranged so symmetrically on the bench. I tried to come up from behind to not get their attention, but one heard me and turned around. I now think her figure breaking the pattern makes the photo what it is. I like how the women look so out of place yet perfectly in tune with the sky and beach in front of them.

I took this photo in Corona Queens on the platform of the 103rd Street 7 train station. I took it with a disposable camera but I post all my disposable camera photos to Instagram through my cell phone. My Instagram can be found at @disposablenyc. I took it because I grew up riding the 7 train since I was a little boy and I liked how the sunset looks reflected off the train.

I live in Yokohama, Japan. The summers are brutal here and I hate them. This shot was the first big rainstorm of winter. It was cold, wet and nasty. I was in heaven! I like that I was able to find something I find wonderful in such a miserable atmosphere for most people.

My great-grandmother was murdered in 1936 when she was 70 years old--it was on the campus of Haverford College, outside of Philadelphia. My great-grandmother had worked there in the kitchen for seven years when she was killed by a man she supervised and had fired for drunkenness. I went to the campus to see the building where she lived, worked and died. Across the green, this gorgeous tree was there and I realized that she must have looked at that tree every day. I treasure this photo.

I took this picture while I was at a conference in Providence, RI - the sky was so clear and the walk so relaxing I felt the need to capture the moment.

I took this picture on campus at Kingsborough Community College (where I work) in April 2013. It's debris left from Sandy...I was struck by it still being there after 6 months. I wondered where it came from and what it's story was before it washed ashore.

This is me with the star of the 2013 NYC Mayoral Campaign, Dante DiBlasio. I was at Gracie Mansion on August 17, 2013 attending the 60th Wedding Anniversary of former Mayor David Dinkins and his wife, Joyce. Dante walked in behind his father and I made a bee-line for the star of the mayoral campaign, Dante DiBlasio.

I took this picture in my backyard, a small third of an acre plot, where I had a waterfall, stream and pond constructed.I loved the way the newly fallen snow highlighted the rocks.

This sunset looking downtown from my East Village 7th floor apartment was so beautiful I had to capture it on film!!! The reflection you see isn't in water. I balanced my phone on my air conditioning unit to get that stunning reflection.

Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota. Many people are unfamiliar with Crazy Horse and even fewer are aware of the monument being constructed in his honor. Needless to say, "the people" I'm talking about are not WNYC listeners ;-)

This was taken at the Aquarium in Atlanta Georgia. I was simply struck by the vibrant colors captured by the cell phone

Feb 2013 - Storm Nemo roared through NYC over a weekend, making getting out into the Winter Wonderland of Central Park a delight. Caught this icicle, with a jogger emerging...

This photograph was taken in Time Square, NYC. I was walking past the recently closed Colony Record store that went out of business after 60 years. I used to enjoy looking through the records, memorabilia, etc. It was strange to see the glass doors covered up. I think this image may be nostalgic for many people.
