I got onto a relatively empty subway heading uptown in Manhattan, found a seat, and when I looked across the aisle I saw this woman. She was beautiful (obvious), hip (tattoo), brainy (book) and provocative (logo on handbag). I couldn't resist capturing her image with my iPhone's camera.

This is a picture of my son from several years ago in an amazing place called Antelope Canyon in Page, Az. I love it because 1) it's an amazing place and 2) now that my son is 17 years old, this picture of him when he was much younger reminds me not only of the family trip we took at that time, but of all the trips and times we spent together in the past.

I took this photo at my home in Ocean, NJ. My dog is relaxing at the end of the day and looks like she is reading the NY Times. If dogs could read and listen to the news, they would need a glass of wine at the end of the day too.

I took this photo at the World Trade Center Memorial in October of this year. It was a very solemn site and touched us to see the names of the innocent victims and the reflections of the visitors in the water in the reflecting pools.

From my West Chelsea roof I looked down to see an accidental landscape on a building below. Nature rivals Monet on this one.

I was driving the car westbound on the Williamsburg bridge. I needed the shot of the wreath dedicated to the motorcyclist who died tragically when a vehicle catapulted him over the guardrail. I could never get the shot while driving. My passenger Jessica Hoffman took the picture on her phone. My friend Michael Berkowitz photoshopped it. I believe it was a good collaboration.

(2nd) of Tarot Ace of Pentacles, the Hand of God in the Window of Heaven, different view of half the 'W' with one of the 'pentacles'. Other Biblical references: a tower (Psalm 18:2, Habbakuk 2:1)- and the zig-zag of lightning on Tarot Key 16 The Tower; the Hand of G*d in 1,6 verses; "lift up thine eye, and behold", the 'blind/hidden eye', "open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law", and "quicken" in Psalm 119 (the expressive rays/11 in the heavens/9). Korean Sangmo ribbons, and Stevie Wonder's "A Ribbon in the Sky for Our Love"!

The Tarot Ace of Pentacles, the Hand of G*d in the Window of Heaven - part of documenting an aerial phenomenon described throughout the Bible, and included in many worldwide iconic and traditional designs. It's at a location that gives a clue, by its name, that founders of the area knew of it. I like it because it's not only one of the best general proofs, but demonstrates the phenomenon relating to the arcana of the Tarot. The shape of more of the vortex shows as a 'W', a simple image of a hand. A hand/5 in a cloud/8; Psalm 18:15 like the 'stream of consciousness' flowing through Tarot images; a Turkish dancer's hand with zil; yin-yang,um-yang, mitsuo tomoe, triskelion; the "mouth of the Lord/David", or gaping lion's jaws; the holy hill, or mount; a jeweled crown; a hand with money; the eye blind, and pan and scales of Justice; the Dove with eucharist wafer; basically like the Westinghouse logo. Deu/Deo/Theos-ter/terra- onomos/name - G*d speaks through his earthly presence, and of his Right Hand Prince(s) potentially being here. Deuteronomy 18:15,18 - Isaiah 8:18 - Psalm 15:1 - Acts of the Apostles 1:5 - Malachi 1:5 - Numbers 15:38,39 - It was 5/15/88 when I first saw it.

This Hopper-esque scene is a late November sunset view from the fire escape of building 24 at the Garner Arts & Industrial Center in Garnerville NY. Note the brilliant evening star--not sure whether it's Jupiter or Venus, but it sure was bright.

I took this in early December at the Nyack NY municipal boat ramp, with the construction barges at the Tappan Zee Bridge in the background. I'm by no means a Royalist, but who doesn't love the Solar Queen?

I took this from a rooftop in New Jersey. I took it because it struck me the minute I stepped off the elevator. I was headed to the roof to blow bubbles with the most adorable toddler. One the way down I had to stop for the picture as I thought not many chances as beautiful as this come my way. I like it because it reminds me of my afternoon of bubbles with the aforementioned toddler. It was magical.

June, 2013
Bologna, Italy - Wine Bar

The original reason for the photo - we liked the wine and wanted to have the name for future reference. But it became clear there was more - the depth, reflections, colors, and the eye glasses juxtaposed with the wine glasses. Accidental playfulness.

In November at the Met's Cloisters Museum in upper Manhattan I was listening to the Janet Cardiff sound installation of Thomas Tallis' 40-part Motet playing in an adjacent room. I liked this view and the accompaniment even better when a security guard came out and stood still for two seconds.

My second photo was taken inside of my apartment in Brooklyn Heights this past May (I think). I woke up and was getting ready to go to work and saw what I thought was a cat in my window. When I tapped the window I had a very large raccoon staring at me on a sunny morning. To the judges, I swear this is not a pet! City living.

This photo was taken near the dog run below Columbia Medical Center at 165th & Riverside. I have seen years worth of views of the GWB from this vantage point, but none as quintessentially New York as this shot with a deep fog rolling off the Hudson. This is, and always will be, my New York.

I was walking by my place in Brooklyn Heights and had started a ritual of walking the new pedestrian bridge that brings you from Squibb playground to Brooklyn Bridge park. The sky was beautiful, but I really like the reflection of it on the water.
