Sutton Place 7:46 am. A little in phone enhancement achieved the mood I was going for.

I took this at a cafe in Maine. My sisters and I had coffee with our dad for Father's Day and I took it because it was a fun memory. I like it because it's a simple thing, just a few cups of coffee, but us being together means a lot more. And it makes for a cheeky picture caption.

A near-deserted beach along the Atlantic Coast. A stray dog lumbers on to the sand, and reposes in a state of exquisite geometric contortion.
Snap.

Lincoln Center, August 7, 2013.
A perfect summer evening. My husband and I had just tried to attend an outdoor concert of salsa legend Ruben Blades in Damrosch Park off of Lincoln Center. But the lively famous music and warm weather had brought out the throngs who filled the seating to capacity; we were too late. Hand-in-hand we started our journey home. The atmosphere around Lincoln Center was vibrant, kinetic, with hundreds of concert-goers, tourists and passers-by moving about in all directions and speeds, talking at all different levels and accents. Then I spotted this Asian couple - silent, tranquil, connected in their own bubble. A live human sculpture, a study in the beauty of stillness. A perfect contrast and compliment to the surrounding tumult.
I captured the moment on my cell phone, and we moved on.

Once I snuck into the Frank Gehry designed building at Case Western and was fascinated to see the sinuous walls and curving hallways. I was reminded of his comment when interviewed that his mother kept Gefilte Fish in their bathtub during holidays when he was a child...and that the thrashing around movement influenced his work!

I went to CT for a weekend getaway with some friends and found this guy sitting on our spigot. It was fascinating. It seemed like the type of picture you would find in a science textbook.

This photo was taken in Florence, Italy at the Marino Marini museum. I love this artist and this sculpture represents pure exaltaion and happiness to me!

Towards the end of the summer, my father and I took a trip down to the Jersey Shore. After a perfect day, we got back in the car and headed home. We were stopped at a red light when I saw these bikes. I loved the colors and the organization. I was able to snap this on my phone right as the light changed. This post-Sandy picture always brings a smile to my face.

This photo was taken on a holiday in England and I was drawn into the beauty of this animal's eye and the fascinating hair growth patterns and colors on display.

Once when visiting Cleveland, I snuck into the Frank Gehry designed Weatherhead School of Management Building at Case Western. I was awed by the sinuous hallways and curvy walls of this spectacular place. I once heard Gehry say that many of his creations were inspired by seeing live Gefilte fish swimming in his bathtub as a child! What an imaginative architect.

I took this picture on the road in Maine. I took a detour off my route home to drive out to a field to catch the shot because it was just such a stunning sunset. I like it because it's calming and the perfect end to a busy day.

I LOVE Brooklyn. I was walking around the incredible area under the Smith & Ninth Street elevated subway station. I loved the surprise of seeing my own shadow which made me feel part of the urban landscape.

I visited the National September 11 Memorial for the first time with a friend visiting from Seattle, Thanksgiving weekend. I had just returned from London and thought that the weather that day was more London than New York. I snapped this photo, and looking at it later thought it looked painted or photoshopped, with the popcorn clouds reflected on everything. I remembered a conversation when the driver coming in from the airport expressed disappointment in the building's plainness, and my saying that its simplicity was the attraction, and the promise that it would reflect the world around it... and here was my proof.

These four shots were taken while waiting at the copier machine in my school's main office, which is located right across the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Four different seasons in Brooklyn. I thought the rooftop garden created some nice contours.

Looking out the window at work overlooking Battery Park. Always taking photos of the Statue of Liberty

This is the scene that I see every weekday on my morning commute on the F train from Brooklyn to Manhattan. There were plans recently to tear down this iconic sign. I'm glad they didn't. I love how the sign frames the ever-expanding skyline of downtown Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan.

The Statue of Liberty is a ubiquitous symbol of New York that often greets you at the turn of every corner. This display at a souvenir shop near 23rd St. and 6th Ave. caught my attention one winter morning, particularly the silver statue in the center which I made the focal point of the image.

Taken from the roof of the Staten Island Mall looking towards the Fresh Kills landfill. Not something you see often in NYC. A large expanse of sky and green hills.

This is what a December sunrise looks like from our house in Stone Ridge, NY. I love the way the early morning light casts such long shadows.
