My great-grandmother was murdered in 1936 when she was 70 years old--it was on the campus of Haverford College, outside of Philadelphia. My great-grandmother had worked there in the kitchen for seven years when she was killed by a man she supervised and had fired for drunkenness. I went to the campus to see the building where she lived, worked and died. Across the green, this gorgeous tree was there and I realized that she must have looked at that tree every day. I treasure this photo.
