I was visiting Istanbul with my family in August. We were in a neighborhood outside the center of town looking for an ancient cistern. The streets were narrow and the neighborhood was a bit shabby but full of life. As we were leaving, this pick-up truck roared down the narrow street, blasting music, with the little girl in the front singing through a portable microphone. We were told that this was a Kurdish tradition. I made me reflect on world attitudes to child rearing. It happened so quickly. I was lucky to grab this photo with my iPhone 4.
