I took this photo on Shelter Island. My girlfriend was with her collaborator at the time in Finland making their way to an artist residency for the month of July. She had not told me that she was going with her collaborator, but I already knew by simply looking at their website. I waited and waited for her to tell me they were going together, but she never did. She also had not told me that she had been involved with him for our entire relationship, but I always knew something was happening between them besides artistic collaboration. I felt alone, abandoned and isolated. I spent that weekend trying to capture my emotions in an image.
