I was on the shoreline just below the Alice Austen House on Staten Island's east shore one foggy morning in early December when I saw this freighter emerging out of the mist as it cleared the Verrazano Bridge. I was struck by the timelessness and mystery of the image and was thrilled that I was able to capture it on my phone.
