Inside a grocery store at Sixth Avenue and 58th Street.
Jack from Kaohsiung

Ping Dong County, Taiwan.
It's always sizzlin' during the summer here, but I heard that you East coast folk are suffering a heat wave.

Here’s another Siamese Standpipe sign. I shot this on 23rd street in Manhattan. It was important that the “A” be added to specify which staircase was being served, but the adding of a period to make two sentences and the spelling of “supplies” … maybe not!

The word “Siamese” in this sense comes from the famous conjoined twins from the 1800’s, Chang and Eng, who were Chinese but discovered in Siam (now Thailand). A Siamese Standpipe is a fire department standpipe with two side-by-side connections for hoses. However, the incorrect “Standpipe Siamese” sounds like some genetic experiment gone horribly wrong. This was shot on Second Avenue.

I saw this sign, and many others exactly like it, on the main street in Highland Park, NJ, on June 30, 2010.

New York City
I shot this today.
I was tempted to go in and ask if they would be able to repair my home mortgage …
Chris
Verona, NJ. Noticed it on the very day that Patricia advised that "preventative" is not a word (dictionary.com disagrees btw).
Michael

Staples store on the West Side around 45th Street. The photo was taken during the snow storm on February 10, 2010.

I saw both signs in Mt. View, CA. The above is at Walmart, the below is at Whole Foods Market. I have never seen the correct "n-items or fewer" sign at Walmart.
Oliver Dixon
West side of the 15th Street entrance to the 8th Avenue subway.
John Mosloskie

I snapped a camera phone shot of this last winter in Wayne NJ. It's the ultimate grammatical anathema when it comes to theology!
Time for the church to go back over the basics...
Sarah

This sign is on Eldridge near Division St. My boyfriend and I have passed it many times over the years, and still get a chuckle about how "anyone who puts grabage here will be fine".
Ali Fenwick
I saw this last summer driving through the 7th Ward in New Orleans.
David Huiner

This was on a large sign outside a club for teenagers in Hayti, MO.
