Taken in Volcano National Park, on the big island of Hawaii. Hiking the KÄ«lauea Iki crater trail, this image overlooks the crater and a distant steam vent. One of the most beautiful and tragic places I've ever had the fortune to visit. [October 2014]

Fred Wilson piece at the Brooklyn Museum. The Wide Angle lens on my LG G2 made this into an optical illusion.

This photo is taken in January atop my apartment building in downtown Brooklyn. Despite being sick, I needed fresh air and the roof seemed like the perfect go-to on a snowy day where I'd also capture great images. Peering down from 16 stories high, this winter wonderland view left me in awe of how one color has the ability to create such a beautiful, magical scene.

Seattle Farmers Market find! These are chioggia beets, affectionately known as candy cane beets from the Sequim-Dungeness Valley of Washington State! I chose this picture because it represents all of the wonderful foods that I'm still discovering while visiting the Market. I love finding foods that I never knew existed, supporting the local farmers, and diversifying the way I know and consume food. I'm looking forward to more food finds in 2015!

A beautiful sunset over the Gowanus Canal... Proof that beauty and it's inverse can coexist.
