Clive McCay, developer of the "Cornell bread", was a prominent nutritionist.

Dr. Clive Maine McCay (March 21, 1898—June 8, 1967) was born in Winamac, Indiana and received degrees from universities in Illinois, Iowa and California. In 1927 he joined Cornell University, where he studied the effects of diet on health and longevity, finding that calorie restricted diets led to longer lives in many organisms. He consequently played an important role in developing soldier rations during WWII, and developed the high-protein "Cornell bread". McCay also researched canine nutrition and water fluoridation.
