Gregory Zilboorg was an influential psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, as well as a medical historian.
Gregory Zilboorg (December 25, 1890—September 17, 1959) was born in Kiev and obtained a medical degree in St. Petersburg. He had a brief but successful medical career in Russia before emigrating to the U.S. and obtaining another medical degree from Columbia in 1926. Beginning in 1931 he practiced psychoanalysis and psychiatry in New York City privately while lecturing extensively. Among his books are The History of Medical Psychology (1941), Mind, Medicine and Man (1943) and Freud and Religion (1958).
