Jessica Molaskey is a critically-acclaimed actress and vocalist, whose singing voice has been compared to Peggy Lee, Chris Connor, k.d. Lang, and even Chet Baker.
Jessica Molaskey is a critically-acclaimed actress and vocalist, whose singing voice has been compared to Peggy Lee, Chris Connor, k.d. Lang, and even Chet Baker. Ms. Molaskey has sung in concert from Lincoln Center to Carnegie Hall to the Montreal Jazz festival. She performed regularly at Feinstein’s at Loews Regency with her husband John Pizzarelli and, in 2005, made her sold-out solo debut at the Oak Room at New York’s Algonquin Hotel. For the past seven years, the husband-and-wife team have headlined a yearly, two-month, sold-out engagement at the New York’s famous Café Carlyle.
Her latest CD is the 2012 Arbors release, Live from the Algonquin, featuring her performances with the great singer-songwriter Dave Frishberg at the fabled Oak Room. Jessica has five previous solo CDs: A Kiss to Build a Dream On, Sitting in Limbo, Make Believe, A Good Day, and her debut CD, Pentimento. All received both critical and popular acclaim.
Jessica is a veteran of a dozen Broadway shows, including the recent revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Sunday in the Park With George, which was nominated for nine Tony Awards.
She has premiered music written by Ricky Ian Gordon (Dream True, Sycamore Trees), Adam Guettel (Myths and Hymns), Jason Robert Brown (Songs for a New World, Parade), Michael John LaChiusa, and Stephen Sondheim (Wise Guys). She has written songs for a dozen recordings, including the critically-acclaimed “Greed,” part of a commission for Audra McDonald’s Seven Deadly Sins at Carnegie Hall. Ms. McDonald performed “Cradle and All,” written by Ms. Molaskey and Ricky Ian Gordon, for the Lincoln Center Songbook series and she recorded it for Nonesuch CD release Build a Bridge.
Jessica grew up in Wolcott, Connecticut. She lives in Manhattan with her husband, John Pizzarelli, and their daughter, Madeleine.
