Linda Dahl has worked as a freelance journalist in Mexico, Ecuador and Brazil, with a focus on the arts. Her books reflect her interests in the arts and love of research. They include: Stormy Weather: The Music and Lives of a Century of Jazzwomen (1984), which Publishers Weekly called “A brilliant work of oral history"; Morning Glory: A Biography of Mary Lou Williams (2000) (A New York Times Notable Book of the Year); Come Back, Carmen Miranda: Stories about Latin America (2002); Haunted Heart: A Biography of Susannah McCorkle (2006); and the novels Gringa in a Strange Land (2010) and Cleans Up Nicely (2013). Her latest book, Girl, Recovered: A Comprehensive Guide for Parents to Lifegiving Therapies for Young Women with a Substance Use Problem will be published in the Spring of 2015 by Central Recovery Press.
