(New York, NY – June 19, 2013) –RADIOLAB, WNYC’s genre-busting, Peabody Award-winning nationally-distributed radio show and top podcast about wonder, discovery and big ideas, today announced tour dates for its largest live show tour ever.
The 21-city “APOCALYTICAL” tour will take RADIOLAB, hailed by This American Life host Ira Glass as public radio’s most innovative show, to all four corners of the country and to Canada for the first time, as well as back to cities including Los Angeles and San Francisco where they have previously played to sold out audiences.
The topic: cataclysmic destruction, life amid the ashes, and surprising, spectacular survival.
**Tickets go on sale today at www.radiolab.org/live.
Hosts ROBERT KRULWICH and JAD ABUMRAD will discuss the tour today at 3pm ET on Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything” at http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/.
APOCALYPTICAL will combine inventive storytelling, riveting science, and live music to explore the topic of endings, both blazingly fast and agonizingly slow. KRULWICH and ABUMRAD will romp through hundreds of millions of years of history to arrive at “The End,” again and again, to find how new life and fresh possibility emerge every time.
The centerpiece of the stage show is a detailed reconstruction of the afternoon in which the entire global population of dinosaurs were destroyed. Based on forensic ballistic testing and careful examination of the global fossil record, science is now able to paint a startlingly bombastic and detailed picture of those fateful events. APOCALYPTICAL will wrestle with how this event influenced the course of the 200 million years of evolution to become inexorably linked with human civilization's rise to dominance.
Joined on stage by Brooklyn guitarist and composer NOVELLER, the evening will be a thought- provoking and laughter-inducing dance on the grave of our inevitable demise.

Noveller is the solo electric guitar project of Brooklyn-based composer and filmmaker Sarah Lipstate. Handling the guitar as her muse, Lipstate summons a sonic palette so rich as to challenge the listener to conceive of how it’s housed in a single instrument manipulated by a solitary performer. Her one-woman guitar soundscapes have captured the attention of NPR, The Village Voice, Time Out New York, and The Wall Street Journal. She has written original music in collaboration with composer Nathan Larson for several feature film scores. In 2012, The D.C. based ensemble, Low End String Quartet, premiered her commissioned piece for quartet, “Into the Midnight Sun,” at the Reston Community Center in Reston, VA. Noveller has toured the U.S. and internationally, at times supporting acts such as Xiu Xiu, the Jesus Lizard, U.S. Girls, Aidan Baker, and Emeralds. Lipstate has collaborated with several renowned musicians, including live improvised duo performances with Carla Bozulich (Evangelista, The Geraldine Fibbers), David Wm. Sims (the Jesus Lizard, Scratch Acid), and Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth). She has previously performed as a member of Cold Cave, Parts & Labor, and One Umbrella. Lipstate has also participated in Rhys Chatham’s Guitar Army, Ben Frost’s “Music for 6 Guitars” Ensemble, and Glenn Branca’s 100 guitar ensemble.
