Amtrak Derailment Forces LIRR to Cancel Some Trains

A derailed Amtrak train in a New York City tunnel has forced the Long Island Rail Road to cancel 16 rush-hour trains out of Penn Station.

Two cars of an Amtrak train derailed around 12:30 p.m. Monday on an eastbound track in Queens that Amtrak shares with the LIRR, an MTA spokesman said. There were no injuries reported.

The MTA said it's helping Amtrak to get the derailed cars back on the tracks.
