Aoife O’Donovan may have spent a decade constructing Fossils, her debut solo album. But as the lead singer of the progressive bluegrass string band Crooked Still -- and more recently as part of the all-star Goat Rodeo ensemble, which features Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, Stuart Duncan and Chris Thile -- she has years of experience honing her craft as a songwriter and composer. But what stands out the most in her music O’Donovan’s voice — it’s enveloping, breathy, and calm.
