Hear selections from the latest by London composer Jon Opstad, who has created many scores for film, TV, dance, as well as concert and chamber music. His new album, Extensions is based around sounds produced by the Yamaha U3 Disklavier - an upright piano that can be controlled via computer. Listen to the range of textures from soundscape to motoric patterns of these works, titled “Diskmusik.”
Listen also to music by pianist/violinist/producer Poppy Ackroyd, created using natural piano sounds together with electronically altered sounds. Then, there’s new music by composer, pianist, and collaborator Jerome Begin together with busy New York pianist David Friend which is also based around piano manipulations of crossbred acoustic and electric sounds.
