Composer Ned Rorem, 1983.

This is Ned Rorem's first appearance on New Old and Unexpected but not his first trip to WNYC. He talks briefly about his being on the WNYC American Music Festival in 1946. That recording is in our archive collection and on the website. He and Tim Page then go on to discuss Rorem's various works starting off with Remembering Tommy. They spend a moment on Pierre Boulez's work and also discuss Rorem's diaries and music criticism. The Nantucket Songs are performed along with other works.
