Live From Merkin Concert Hall

WNYC's 9/11 anniversary music activities get underway with tonight's special broadcast from Merkin Concert Hall featuring the Guarneri Quartet, Juilliard Quartet, Shanghai Quartet, and Musique sans Frontières, a new ensemble comprised primarily of middle-eastern musicians, who will present a mixed program under the aegis of Musicians for Harmony. Highlights of the program include the Juilliard performing Bartok's String Quartet No. 6, Beethoven's Quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op. 95 performed by the Shanghai, Debussy's String Quartet No. 1 performed by the Guarneri, and a new work by Egyptian singer/composer Kamel Boutros, for voice, piano, and violin.
