New York, NY —
Chanting and waving signs, hundreds of supporters of gay marriage marched through Greenwich Village to a rally in Union Square last evening.
REPORTER: They protested the California Supreme Court decision that upholds a voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage. The decision comes as the New York State Senate considers a bill to legalize gay marriage here. Marcher Heriberto Sanchez believes the bill will pass.
SANCHEZ: I am very optimistic, I think there are a few bad apples in the senate that are trying to derail the process - but in the end New York will come through.
REPORTER: The Senate has about three more weeks to vote on the bill before the current legislative session ends. The Assembly has already approved it.
