Jose Sucuzhanay was walking with with one of his brothers last week when he was attacked by a group of bat-wielding African American men shouting anti-gay and racial slurs.

A third brother, Diego spoke outside the hospital yesterday and urged members of the public to come forward with information about the assailants.

SUCUZHANAY: My brother could have been the victim this time, and tomorrow it may be somebody else. It could be someone from your family, or it could be yourself, so please if you know something, don't wait.

REPORTER: The police have not made any arrests but are considering whether to investigate it as a hate crime. Jose Sucuzhanay is survived by a wife and two children.
