Youth Cricket League Underway in NYC

The crack of the bat and the roar of the crowd are familiar sounds of summer, but on a field in Brooklyn, teenage boys are gathering to play a game that might not be so familiar: cricket.

The police department has organized a citywide youth league and tournament to keep nearly 100 young men busy while they're out of school. Kids whose families come from as far away as the West Indies and Bangladesh are coming together through the month of August to try and win it all. "Superstar" player Mohammed Farajee says he appreciates the effort by the NYPD to help establish the league.

FARAJEE: It's wonderful to see the New York Police Department Setting up a cricket tournament and were just here to enjoy ourselves.

REPORTER: Farajee hopes that the league will get more Americans interested in his beloved game of cricket.
