New York, NY —
Doctors say they hope Governor Jon Corzine won't need any more surgery. Corzine's broken left leg was operated on yesterday to remove dead tissue and muscle.
REPORTER: The procedure was described as "uneventful." Doctor Robert Ostrum, chief of orthopedic trauma at Cooper University Hospital, says the governor faces a long recovery.
OSTRUM: Given time, he will walk normally. He will need assistance devices, such as a walker or a cane for whatever that period of time is. He will walk normally without assistance devices in 3 months - that would be my hope.
REPORTER: Ostrum did not say when Corzine would be taken off the ventilator. The governor remains in critical, but stable condition following last week's car accident on the Garden State Parkway.
