New York, NY —
The air inside Atlantic City's casinos is notably cleaner, as a restrictive new smoking law takes effect. The restrictions - which limit smoking to no more than 25% of a casino's floor - took effect yesterday. Many well-placed signs let gamblers know which areas were ok to smoke in.
And only a few patrons had to be told not to light up in non-smoking areas. Yesterday also marked the one-year anniversary of New Jersey's Smoke-Free Air Act. That law prohibits cigar, cigarette and pipe smoking in restaurants, bars, private office buildings and most other indoor places.
