New York, NY —
A coalition of civic associations will attempt a 3rd legal challenge to the Atlantic Yards project.
REPORTER: Led by Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn, the group will sue the Empire State Development Corporation, the Public Authorities Control Board, the MTA and Forest City Ratner, claiming the organizations rushed through the approval process and didn't listen to community concerns. Candice Carpenter, legal advisor to Develop Don't Destroy, says Atlantic Yards underwent an inadequate environmental review.
CARPENTER: The failure to consider terrorism as a reasonable worst case scenario. The failure to consider alternatives to the proposed project and numerous oversights and failures to properly identify the negative impacts of the project.
REPORTER: A spokesman for the ESDC says the agency would look over the activist's suit when it's filed. A spokesman for the project's developer, Forest City Ratner, declined to comment.
