Harold Arlen - Part 1

Songwriter Harold Arlen, composer of standards such as "Over The Rainbow" and "The Man That Got Away" is pictured, Jan. 1968.

Attie summarizes Arlen's career. Arlen talks about working at the Cotton Club. Nothing was quite as exciting and stunning. Opening nights were just as glamourous as any opening night on Broadway. He says it was a place to go to have a grand evening. Nothing quite like it. He can't stand it when someone expects him "to write a song like..." Talks about his work with different collaborators.
