Composer of over 100 songs including classics such as "Stardust," "Heart and Soul," and "Skylark," Hoaglund Howard "Hoagy" Carmichael (1899-1981) grew up in Indiana and obtained a law degree from Indiana University while writing and performing music. Eventually he made his way to Hollywood where he found work as a composer and character actor. Donald F. Smith examines the composer's life and career in this short profile.
