ADG7 (aka Ak Dan Gwang Chil) at Le Poisson Rouge
May 3. 7PM. $38.94
K-pop has taken the world by storm, bringing boy bands and girl groups with tightly choreographed dance moves and highly produced, gleaming international pop songs. But there’s more to Korean music than K-pop, and the band ADG7 marries the sounds of traditional Korean instruments to the upbeat rhythms and catchy harmonies of modern Western rock and pop. With three frontwomen trading lines and two of the large zithers known as kayageum – one of which they play with a cello bow – ADG7 has a look and a sound that’s unlike anything else you’ll see in New York this year. ADG7, from South Korea, play on May 3 at Le Poisson Rouge.
