Ai Weiwei Puts Up 'Good Fences' Across NYC

Ai Weiwei joins us to discuss his citywide installation "Good Fences Make Good Neighbors."

Chinese artist Ai Weiwei and curator Nicholas Baume join us to discuss "Good Fences Make Good Neighbors." As part of the Public Art Fund’s 40th anniversary, Ai Weiwei has created a city-wide installation based on his research and documentation of refugee camps and national borders. The installations are featured at sites like the Doris C. Freedman Plaza at Central Park and the Unisphere at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens. Their purpose is to show how physical divisions cause us to interact differently with one another.

Ai Weiwei's documentary "Human Flow" is playing now at the Angelika Film Center (18 W Houston St., between Mercer and Broadway) and at The Landmark at 57 West (657 West 57th St., at 12th Ave.).
