If you’re in one of the world’s most prestigious museums and you hear the sound of live electronic music, there’s a good chance you’ve come across a performance by Alva Noto. The German composer and producer, whose real name is Carsten Nicolai, is best known here for his work on the film score to the Leonardo DiCaprio movie The Revenant; but he has performed in places like the Tate Modern in London, the Guggenheim in New York, and the Venice Biennale. Alva Noto now adds the Met Museum to that list when he performs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Grace Rainey Rogers auditorium on both Wednesday and Thursday nights, May 16 and 17.

This performance contains a sequence of flashing lights, which may affect visitors who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy or other photosensitivities.
