Ami Dang is from Baltimore, but her family is from South Asia and her music represents a natural fusion of East and West. Using her voice, the Indian sitar, and electronics, Dang makes music that combines her love of ambient electronic music with her study of classical Indian music. Her most recent album, Parted Plains, is an instrumental record that focuses on this combination of sitar and electronics. Ami Dang performs on Wed., Jan. 29, at Joe's Pub.
