Bab L’Bluz - "Imazighen" (Soundcheck Podcast)

The French-Moroccan band Bab L’Bluz is essentially a rock band. They just don’t look like one. Instead of a guitar, their lead singer, Yousra Mansour, plays an electric version of two traditional North African lutes, and instead of a bass guitar, Brice Bottin plays an electric version of the Moroccan gimbri, a type of bass lute associated with traditional healing rituals. The band draws freely on various types of North and West African music to make songs that have ancient trance roots and a contemporary psychedelic sound. The band Bab L’Bluz plays a live set in our studio for the latest edition of the Soundcheck Podcast.
