The actors Kyra Alanova, Laura Baxter, Bartlett Robinson, Vita (or Vida) Fox, George Ryan, Donald MacKinnon, and Ellen Peretto perform a series of related scenarios concerning the appreciation, production (including class and other backstage aspects), and performance of a Russian ballet company. They are accompanied by recorded music, live piano music played by Charlotte Homer, and Deakin's commentary.

The dramatized scenarios include excerpts from Fokine's ballet Petrouchka. Closing remarks and announcements including identification of the actors playing the various characters in the drama.
