"Complicit" is 2017's word of the year, according to Dictionary.com. The word, according to the website, became relevant in culture and politics, and refusing to be complicit was a "grounding force" this year as well.
Jane Solomon, lexicographer at Dictionary.com, discusses the websites' choice for 2017 word of the year, and runner ups.
- Complicit means “choosing to be involved in an illegal or questionable act, especially with others; having partnership or involvement in wrongdoing.” Or, more simply, complicit means being, at some level, responsible for something . . . even if indirectly.
