Summary Ben Grauer narrates a program on the life and career of President Harry S. Truman, beginning with Truman assuming the office after the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Excerpts from Truman's addresses to the nation are heard. Journalist John Daly announces the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Winston Churchill delivers his "Iron Curtain" speech, Secretary of State George Marshall introduces the "Marshall Plan", and Governor of New York Thomas Dewey accepts the Republican Presidential nomination in 1948. Radio commentator H.V. Kaltenborn predicts a Dewey victory over Truman, and Senator Joseph R. McCarthy apologizes for his false claims regarding Communists and Soviet spies inside the White House. An excerpt of Truman preforming the "Black hawk waltz" on the piano is heard. Program rebroadcast on National Public Radio and introduced by Mike Waters on "Options".
