For our Bonus Weekend Podcast, we wanted to pay tribute to Leonard Cohen and Gwen Ifill, who both died this past week. Leonard Cohen – the Canadian poet and novelist, didn’t start his music career as a singer-songwriter, until 1967 – at the age of 33, but he’s become an internationally beloved musician. Leonard spoke to him back in 1993. And Gwen Ifill, the Peabody Award-winning longtime host of PBS’ “Washington Week” and co-anchor of “PBS NewsHour” died at the age of 61, after a months-long battle with cancer. We were lucky to have had the chance to interview her for her book, The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama,” in January of 2009.
