Demaro – "Mi Readi" (Weekly Music Roundup)
Demaro makes music in the Jamaican style known as dancehall. It’s built on short, snappy bits of Caribbean rhythm, and sung in Jamaican Patois. But there’s a difference: Demaro is openly gay, and dancehall is a style of music that has in the past espoused violence against gay men. So Demaro moved to New York, and it’s here that he’s preparing to release his first recordings, full of good vibes and sunny riddims.
