
Emergency response times in New York City have been getting longer year-to-year, according to the city's annual Mayor’s Management Report.
Councilmember Joann Ariola represents parts of southeast Queens. She’s also the chair of the council's committee on fire and emergency. Oren Barzilay is the president of EMS Local 2057-Uniformed EMT’s Paramedics and Fire Inspectors of FDNY. They talked with WNYC's Tiffany Hanssen about why emergency response times are getting slower, and how they think the problem should be addressed.
