Even If You Think, 'Cat Cafe? Whatever, I'm Over It,' Think Again Because It's Amazing

Here's the scoop on New York City's first permanent cat cafe: it's on Hester Street at the edge of Chinatown and it is chock-a-block with cats and pussums and kitties and meow-meows.
The coffee and baked goods are around the corner. But if you can't get up because there is a cat on your lap, you can get delivery. The show starts before you even get inside. Cats love looking out the window!
"He looks like a tiger," remarked this gentleman in Mandarin. Reservations at the Meow Parlour are $4 per 1/2 hour but it's free to snap pictures out front.
Once you get inside, there is a little foyer to keep the cats in.
You have to take your shoes off which is a good thing since cats love the smell of feet.
For the sheer number of cats present, the whole space seems pretty clean-- maybe because cats love to clean themselves. There are plenty of bathing beauties on view.
Even when you live in a cat cafe, some things should remain private. When nature calls, these felines take it offline. This may go without saying, but if you don't want a cat sniffing your coffee cup, don't come to the cat cafe.
All the cats are available for adoption, but if they are not ready for their close up, there are plenty of places to hide.
Lucky Lemon came out of his hidy-hole to give a brief comment about his first day at work. "The base pay is not great but I'm in it for the purrrks."
All the Meow Parlour residents were pretty social. This mini tuxedo puss was adamant about being on mic.
"I like it when you pet me but don't touch my stomach or I will cut you."
Lucky Lemon's motto is: when it all gets to be too much, retire into your flying-saucer bed.
Meow Parlour co-founder Emilie Legrand wasn't sure how the kitties would take to being the main attraction. But on opening day, she was pleasantly surprised.
Reservations are required. But according to this handsome tabby, you'd better plan ahead. The Meow Parlour is booked up for at least the next two months.
