Elizabeth Holtzman, former U.S. congresswoman, Brooklyn DA, NYC comptroller, assistant to Mayor Lindsay, and current lawyer, talks about her letter to Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen where she resigned from the Homeland Security Advisory Council over the Trump administration's treatment of immigrants and refugees, and why she's calling on Nielsen to resign.
Plus: She discusses the latest in the Mueller investigation, and the parallels to her election to Congress, back in 1972, to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's primary win against Rep. Joe Crowley. The attitude back then when she took on the Brooklyn machine candidate was, she says, "'how dare any woman challenge him?'"
Elizabeth Holtzman says the Trump administration's family separation policy is lawless and there's nothing that allows the US government to do that as a penalty for trying to enter the US illegally. "We don't take children from parents."

On Congressional Republicans "growing a spine," Elizabeth Holtzman says, it's hard to know. "They've been so weak & so cowardly up to this point." Says when Pompeo testified before Senate yesterday, they couldn't get him to say what happened in private mtg. btw. Putin & Trump.
