Jessica Molaskey brought the work of Joni Mitchell to the stage in her latest production, Portraits of Joni. The show, which debuted to critical acclaim, was recently described by Stephen Holden of The New York Times as, " [combining] uncompromising psychological realism along with an element of surprise that few singers bring to their material. In her voice, joy and pain are so intertwined that they’re almost the same thing."
On Saturday May 30th, Molaskey shared stage with world-class musicians including guitar virtuoso John Pizzarelli and guest vocalists Julia Gargano and Madeleine Pizzarelli. The evening of music of conversation was hosted by champion of the Amercian Songbook (and our host) Jonathan Schwartz.
The Jonathan Channel was there and we captured it all. This Tuesday at 7PM & Friday at 3PM, we will air the show in its entirety! Tune in for Molaskey's stunning interpretation of Mitchell classics including "Blue" and "Big Yellow Taxi."
