The Nobel Prize in Literature was just awarded to Kazuo Ishiguro. The novelist was born in Japan and raised in Britain, and his novels closely examine the British class system. Sara Danius, the permanent secretary of The Swedish Academy, is quoted in the NYTimes as saying “If you mix Jane Austen and Franz Kafka then you have Kazuo Ishiguro in a nutshell, but you have to add a little bit of Marcel Proust into the mix.” Leonard spoke with the author in 2005, and 10 years later in 2015, and for our Bonus Weekend Podcast we’re replaying those interviews for you.
