Losing Elections, Gaining the Future?

After losing elections across Congress last year, do Democrats have a long-term advantage?

Ruy Teixeira, a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and the author of The Optimistic Leftist: Why the 21st Century Will Be Better Than You Think  (St. Martin's Press, 2017), argues that despite losing control of congress and the presidency, Democrats have long-term advantages on their side.

"This populist impulse that’s been captured in the [GOP] is potentially blowing apart the economic consensus in the Republican Party and is ultimately good for the Left," said Teixeira.
